Recovery Mechanic Memorial
Recovery Mechanic Memorial

Ladies and Gentlemen, As I am sure you are all aware we have recently lost another member of our great trade in WO1 (ASM) Stephen Rees. In light of this we at DSEME feel compelled to erect a memorial for all those Recovery Mechanics who have lost their lives, be that at home or abroad.

As we have recently relocated DSEME to Lyneham our aspiration is to position a Foden recovery vehicle as a gate guard/memorial in front of our new Recovery Training Wing (RTW) building, alongside will be a wall and memorial garden detailing those we have lost - the list of tradesman will be taken from the Recovery Mechanic Role of Honour as published on the Recovery Mechanic Past and Present Facebook page, therefore can we please ask you to make sure the list contains all those that have passed on.

Our aspiration is to have the Foden resprayed and memorial wall erected, alongside this will be a flag pole and Recovery Training Wing flag, all of which will incur cost. Additionally, we will apply for some funding from the Corps and associated charities.

As a fiercely passionate collective of tradesmen and women we would appreciate any donations towards this worthwhile cause, however small.

We roughly estimate the cost to be in the region of 3000 to 5000 so all donations will be greatly received. The finances will be monitored by an external auditor nominated by the current WO1 (ASM) of the Recovery Training Wing.

Our aspiration is to have this built in time for the Recovery Mechanics Reunion 2017.

Please use the reference, RMM alongside any donation.

Kind Regards,

Sgt Robert Slater
